Thanks to generous support from our trustees and several corporations and foundations, PHLF has awarded 76 scholarships to students from Allegheny County since 1999. The scholarship amount was increased in 2015 from $4,000 to $6,000 (awarded in equal installments to the college or university over four years) and is for book and tuition expenses only. In addition, PHLF has awarded 14 Honorable Mentions since 2016 (a one-time gift of $250, payable to the recipient’s college or university).
The Scholarship Program gives students an incentive to excel in school, become involved in their communities, and explore their city in a meaningful way. It gives our organization an opportunity to build relationships with capable young people who feel a strong personal connection to the Pittsburgh region and value its rich history, architectural heritage, and picturesque landscape.
