Neighborhood Walking Tour: Hamnett Place, Wilkinsburg

The Hamnett Place neighborhood in Wilkinsburg is an example of how historic restoration and preservation can be utilized to help renew a community without displacing residents. Once comprised of mostly vacant and falling-down building structures, the neighborhood experienced a dramatic transition when residents and community activists invited our organization in 2004 to help them think about renewal strategies other than massive demolition.
