This workshop is a combined initiative of Dollar Bank and Pittsburgh Housing Development Association. It aims to provide an outline of the relationship of good credit to successful financing applications, a review of personal financial management practices, the details and availability of special mortgage products for first – time homebuyers, grant funds to assist with closing costs and general overview of the counseling program. If desired, free credit reports can be pulled for participants during the events that are then reviewed on an individual basis at the program’s conclusion.
In addition, counselors will be also be available to explain how you can own your own home including information about:
- Credit counseling and restoration programs
- Grant money for closing costs
- Affordable mortgages and down payment options
- Programs to help public housing residents
- Section 8 tenants and renters
- Your free credit report including an evaluation
About the presenters: Ray Garofalo is the Vice President of Community Development at Dollar’s Bank. Dollar bank is the only financial institution in the region that has maintained an in-house credit and mortgage-counseling program that indicates the Bank’s commitment to strengthen communities and families.
Greg Whitted is an executive director and founder at Pittsburgh Housing and Development Association. (PHDA). PHDA, Inc. was formed in 1982 with a mission to assist low to moderate income first-time homebuyers with educational workshops and resources to achieve their dream of homeownership.
