Workshop: Basic Home Improvement and Repair—2 of 2

FREEAt some point, and regardless of economic conditions, your home will need repairs or improvements. Don’t pay for professional services when you can Do-It-Yourself and save money. In this workshop, students will learn essential repairs and improvements through hands-on experience in basic home improvement skills.
Topics include:
- Essential tools for the home
- Drywall repairs
- Laminate flooring basics
- How to cut trim
- How to change a door handle
- How to change a P-Trap
- How to change a light fixture and switch
This lecture is free and open to the public.

About the presenter: Michael R. Wetmiller is the founder of DIY Pittsburgh, Remodeling Consultants & Educators. Michael has a unique background that combines professional experience as both a carpenter and an educator. He created DIY Pittsburgh with a simple mission: Teach homeowners the skills and knowledge needed to remodel their own homes.
Currently a middle school principal, Michael was originally a journeyman carpenter. He has experience in commercial and residential construction and attended a four-year carpenter’s apprenticeship training program in the mid-1990’s. Michael also has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Science in Education from Duquesne University. He worked as a teacher in a Pittsburgh area high school for 6 years before becoming a principal. Michael combined his knowledge as a carpenter with his ability to teach to create DIY Pittsburgh.
