Pittsburgh and its suburbs have a remarkable trove of historic houses, in styles from Italianate to Richardsonian Romanesque and everything in between. However, with many years of observation under his belt, your tour leader has discovered that in each decade (more or less) from the 1850s to the mid-20th century, one particular form or style of house is found again and again throughout the Pittsburgh area. In this tour, you will see the type of house most common to each decade and come to understand the characteristics that distinguish each.
