Saving! Romare Bearden’s Pittsburgh Recollections

September 24, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Rachel Klipa
Office of Public Art
Thursday, September 24, 2015
6:00 p.m.— 8:30 p.m.

Landmarks Preservation Resource Center
744 Rebbecca Avenue, Wilkinsburg, Pa 15221

When Romare Bearden’s Pittsburgh Recollections in the Gateway Center T-Station had to be moved during the station’s relocation, the Office of Public Art worked with the Port Authority of Allegheny County to conserve the ceramic tile mural and have it placed in the new T-Station.

Through Saving! Romare Bearden’s Pittsburgh Recollections by McKay Lodge,  we see the conservation lab that performed the work, and documented the intense process of conserving the artwork.

Following the film screening, Rachel Klipa of the Office of Public Art will talk about Romare Bearden’s prolific career and his connections to Pittsburgh.

This film screening is free to PHLF Members. Click here for more information about PHLF membership and please join!

Non-members: $5

RSVPs are appreciated. Contact Mary Lu Denny at 412-471-5808 ext. 527
