Described as “Chateau Country” by PHLF’s co-founder Jamie Van Trump, Point Breeze was once home to Pittsburgh industrialists of great wealth: Andrew Carnegie, H.J. Heinz, George Westinghouse, and Henry Clay Frick, among others. Only Frick’s grand home, “Clayton,” survives, as part of The Frick Pittsburgh, but there is still much to see and explore in this large, residential city neighborhood. The tour will amble among Point Breeze’s lovely streets and include the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary (originally the home of Durbin Horne, son of Joseph Horne), Pittsburgh New Church, nearby main street shops, and Engine House No. 16, now home of Fireman Creative.

Tour Meeting Point: Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary, 7418 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15208. Parking is available at the Seminary. Meet at the side entrance to the building.

Tour Ending Point: Westinghouse Park, 7051 Thomas Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15208

Please arrive 15 minutes before start time in order to ensure that the tour gets underway on time. Dress for the weather (PHLF tours proceed rain or shine!), and wear comfortable shoes. By purchasing a ticket for this tour, you acknowledge that you are physically able to undertake the tour, assume all personal risk during the tour, consent to being photographed during the tour, and permit PHLF to use your image in our communications.

This tour is handicap accessible. Please notify us of your needs two business days in advance of the tour.
