Mexican War Streets Walking Tour

July 14, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Saturday, July 14
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Explore one of the most colorful sections of the Mexican War Streets on Pittsburgh’s North Side with PHLF docents. You’ll learn about the history of the area, including the creation of Allegheny Commons and the Mexican War Streets, and become familiar with Victorian styles and terminology. You’ll hear how two organizations––the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation and Mexican War Streets Society––used preservation strategies to reverse neighborhood decline and disinvestment. You’ll also hear how imaginative individuals have creatively repurposed historic structures to create the Mattress Factory and City of Asylum/Alphabet City––both nationally recognized centers for the arts––and the artful world of Randyland.

Paid reservations by Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
Fee: members $10; non-members $35 (includes a one-year complimentary membership in PHLF)
