Interior Trim Basics (Base, Casing, and Crown)—1

October 24, 2013 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

FREE

Installing interior trim adds the finishing touches to a remodeling or construction project.  Trim can be decorative, but it also serves a purpose to hide gaps where walls meet floors, windows, and doors.  In this workshop, students will learn how to install baseboards, window and door casing, and crown molding.
The Landmarks Preservation Resource Center, in a partnership with DIY Pittsburgh, will offer a Interior Trim Basics Workshop Series. This session will be the introduction to Interior Trim.  Students will learn about the tools and different types of material used for interior trim and how to estimate trim material.  Students will get hands-on experience with various tools used in trim installation. Topics include:

  • Types of Materials Used (lumber and synthetic)
  • Planning the Job and Estimating Material
  • Tools for Installing Trim
  • Glues and Fasteners
  • Stain and Paint will also be discussed

This lecture is free and open to the public.
