The discussion is an introduction to period styles and design mindsets from ancient Egyptian architecture to today’s Smart Home. This lecture gives a brief overview of period architecture and the ways interior design has reflected the social and cultural mindsets, religious and political influences, materials, typical forms, and foremost design elements of various period styles.

About the presenter: Julie Graf, CKD, Allied ASID, is the owner of One of a Kind Design (since 2001). She has both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Interior Design, and 15+ years of hands-on construction and design experience with a focus on residential and light commercial design. Julie holds a Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) certification and has also served as an adjunct interior design instructor at Chatham University and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
