Historic Lightner House Open House

June 14, 2014 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$10

Make your own way to Glenshaw, just a few miles north of Pittsburgh, to see the Isaac Lightner House (1833)––now completely restored by PHLF members Sue and Tim Dreier ––and its two outbuildings, the summer kitchen and springhouse. The Lightner House is on Mt. Royal Boulevard across from the Mt. Royal Cemetery. The Dreiers are hosting an Open House for PHLF members and friends on Flag Day. You will also meet their son who resides there and is filling the house with marvelous antiques of the era.
In 1833, Pittsburgh foundry owner Isaac Lightner built the estate in the Greek-revival style with distinctive gabled porch and pillars, as a pastoral retreat for his family. The Lightner House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of PHLF’s Historic Plaque Properties.
