Downtown Renewal Walking Tour

You’ll hear about––and see inside when possible––some of the new spaces being created in the historic landmarks surrounding Mellon and Market squares in Downtown Pittsburgh. In the Mellon Square area, participants will visit Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh, located in the former James H. Reed Building, and the Henry W. Oliver Building, housing Embassy Suites and The Design Alliance (we’ll visit both).
In the Market Square area, we’ll see a group of ten historic buildings whose façades were recently restored through a partnership with the URA and PHLF, thanks to funding from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.

We’ll sample chocolates at Katie’s Kandy and hot soup from the new market in the former Thompson’s Building.

We’ll see new skyscrapers, too, including The Tower at PNC and Gardens at Market Square.
