Bus Tour to the City of Butler

BUTLER St Paul Chan Win-5201Participants will travel by bus from Station Square, 35 miles north through the countryside to the City of Butler, PA. We’ll walk along Main Street, where PHLF has been leading a restoration effort through a Neighborhood Partnership Program funded by Huntington Bank and Armstrong. We’ll see the Butler County Courthouse of 1886 and two remarkable churches: St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, designed by William Halsey Wood in 1895-96, and St. Paul R.C. Church, designed by John T. Comès in (1909-11). Charles Connick designed a transept window in St. Peter’s in 1928, and Leo Thomas, with the firm of George Boos in Munich, Germany, designed the windows for St. Paul (pictured here). Organist Dennis Bell will perform at St. Paul.

Our tour guides will include Comès expert David McMunn and Albert Tannler of PHLF.

Please bring a drink and snack to enjoy on the bus if you like. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Meeting Location:
12:45 p.m.: Board the bus at Station Square, alongside Commerce Court and opposite the parking garage. The bus leaves promptly at 1:00 p.m.
The bus will return to the same location.
