Terry N. Taylor, librarian and town historian, will lead our group on a tour of this Allegheny-River community about 10 miles northeast of downtown Pittsburgh. After viewing some historic photos and hearing about the present life of Aspinwall, we’ll walk through portions of the residential and commercial districts to a newly designed riverfront park. We’ll see well-kept, tastefully designed houses along tree-lined streets; St. Scholastica Convent of 1925 and Church; and a gigantic reclining bronze sculpture by New York artist Tom Otterness in the riverfront park. There will be stores to browse in and foods to sample. All in all, a wonderful afternoon.
The walk is on relatively flat land and will not be strenuous.
Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.
Parking is available in the lot directly across the street from the Aspinwall Borough Building––or ride the bus.
