Special Walking Tour: Tarentum

$20.00

Established in 1829 and named for an ancient Greek city in southern Italy, Tarentum, PA, is one of numerous towns along the Allegheny River whose fortunes have tracked the evolution and devolution of industry in our region. However, recent efforts to revitalize this historic borough appear to be shifting the tide, as a number of new businesses have opened in the last year or so, and a younger demographic is starting to find the town. Learn about Tarentum’s architecture, history, and prospects from the executive director of the local community development corporation, the town’s historian, and a young business owner whose success has allowed her to open a second shop. We also will hear about PHLF’s role in helping to restore the Central Presbyterian Church.
