Join us for a lecture and book signing by PHLF Trustee Todd Wilson on how the challenging topography of the Pittsburgh area, with its wide river valleys, deep ravines and steep hillsides set the stage for engineers, architects and contractors to conquer the terrain with a variety of distinctive spans. Wilson is the author of a new book Images of America Pittsburgh’s Bridges.

Many of the region’s bridges were designed to be beautiful as well as functional, and it sometimes took unprecedented designs and distinguished engineers and architects to do so. The story of Pittsburgh’s bridges is an integral part of the history of Pittsburgh.
