Bus Tour To Woodville, The John Roberts House, and Plantation Plenty – 18th Century Historic Homes and Farms in Western PA

For those who love historic homes and farms, this is a one-time tour not to be missed! We’ll see one well-known National Historic Landmark––where new things are always happening––and two places never before opened for a public tour.
Our first stop will be “Woodville Plantation,” the c. 1775 John and Presley Neville house in Collier Township. Participants will enjoy a light lunch at the National Historic Landmark.

In Canonsburg, we’ll hear how the Washington County Cultural Trust is restoring the John Roberts House as a cultural center, thanks to PHLF’s initial help and easement program. The Roberts House is one of the most significant 18^th– and early 19^th-century homes in Western Pennsylvania.

“Plantation Plenty,” the Isaac Manchester Farm in Avella, Washington County), will be the tour grand finale. The 400-acre Plantation Plenty is a working, organic farm, producing milk, beef, pork, eggs, and a variety of fruits and vegetables. The Georgian house was completed by Isaac Manchester in 1815 and members of the family have owned and occupied the farm for 210 years. Plantation Plenty is on Preservation Pennsylvania’s list of endangered places due to threats from mining.
