Lecture—Creative Reuse: Landmarks Preservation Resource Center.

October 8, 2013 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Creative reuse is nothing new. For millennia, humans have reclaimed and repurposed everything from buildings to bones to meet practical and expressive needs. Our grandparents’ generations also saved and reused and found creative ways to conserve resources.  In recent decades, convenience, planned obsolescence, and disposability, along with an explosion of consumption on a global scale, have changed our way of relating to material objects.  As we work together to create a greener future for our planet, reuse is gaining new attention as an important element of sustainable living.
The Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse promotes resource conservation, creativity, and community engagement through material reuse.

Join PCCR Executive Director Erika Johnson for a conversation about how her organization keeps tons of usable materials out of area landfills while supporting creative and educational projects.  Erika will also share examples of creative reuse projects here in Pittsburgh and around the world, along with some fun ideas you can use at home.
