Walking Tour of Carnegie

Carnegie Walking Tour: From the Andrew Carnegie Free Library to Food-Tasting on Main Street and Church Hopping
Named for Andrew Carnegie and incorporated in 1894, the borough of Carnegie is just five miles southwest of Downtown Pittsburgh. There is so much to see in the main street area––and we hope to pack in as many sites as possible in our afternoon walk that will include food-tasting at several local restaurants (Papa J’s, Riley’s Pour House, Bakn, and the Carnegie Coffee Company).
Executive Director Maggie Forbes will lead our group on a tour of the Andrew Carnegie Free Library. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the library includes a beautifully restored music hall and the Captain Thomas Espy Post No. 153 Civil War Room.
Joanne Letcher, Executive Director of the Carnegie Community Development Corporation, will escort us on a walk along Main Street. We’ll stop in a selection of shops and cafes, including the new coffee shop that is in the former post office, and tour the renovated Masonic Building. We will visit St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, featured in PHLF’s 20th-century architectural guidebook.
