Downtown Walking Tour: Gateway Center

$20.00

From 1950 through the 1960s, Pittsburgh’s Democrat-controlled municipal government, Republican business elite, and the City’s newly formed Urban Redevelopment Authority worked together in an extraordinary collaboration to remake a 23-acre site near the Point into Gateway Center. In this period, known as Pittsburgh’s Renaissance, eleven buildings designed by leading architects of the time were constructed on landscaped plazas, giving new life to the city’s economy.
