Join us for a special tour of the Allegheny Elks Lodge #339, which occupies a historic building on Pittsburgh’s North Side. Designed by Edward B. Lee, a Pittsburgh architect, who designed many distinctive buildings and established his craft at acclaimed architectural firms including Alden & Harlow, and Cram, Goodhue & Ferguson, the Allegheny Elks building was completed in 1926.

Now, a. little over 100 years since it was commissioned, the red brick building located at the corner of Cedar Avenue and Pressley Street, is well known not only as the home of the Allegheny Elks, but also for its lively Banjo Night performances presented by the Pittsburgh Banjo Club on Wednesday nights.

The six-story building is now undergoing a multi-million-dollar restoration starting with its Cedar Avenue façade. Join us for a tour of the building, and learn about the history of the fraternal society that’s been housed in the building for many years; the architectural features of the building and how they enhanced the social life of the fraternal society, and how the Allegheny Elks have utilized the building over the years.

The Pittsburgh Banjo Club convenes for a public practice session every Wednesday evening, so come for the tour, and stay for the entertainment and food!
