In this day and age of high-powered smartphones, all of us have at one time or other, taken our phone, looked up, and snapped a picture that gave us an almost intimate sense of connection to a place. Pittsburgh native Ed Massery, an architectural photographer, has been doing this for more than 35 years. His pictures do not merely record buildings or places, but are meant to give meaning through perspective.

Join us for this special presentation, in which Massery will talk about how architecture caught his eye, the evolution of his career, and how the transition from analog to digital photography not only affected his work but compelled him to adapt his skills. It promises to be a thought-provoking interaction for anyone interested in how photography shapes our understanding of the built environment.

Please arrive 15 minutes before start time in order to ensure that the program gets underway on time.

Accessibility: The Frick Fine Arts Building is accessible to people with disabilities. Those requiring wheelchair access or who have difficulty navigating stairs should use the entrance on the Schenley Drive side of the building, across from Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.
