This lion, inside the Frick Building, used to be about level with the main entrance floor. Now it is about 12 to 15 feet above the main entrance floor.

What happened to the lion?

The lion had to be moved up to a higher place because of flooding

The main floor was lowered because Mr. Frick wanted a taller building lobby

The street was lowered outside, so the building entrance had to be lowered. Inside, a new main floor and a new stair leading up to the lion had to be built.
