She used to be a smoky town, that's what old timers say.
And people used to frown a lot at work or even play.
But, now she's bright and shiny with a skyline that's brand new.
She's getting better every day, that's why we sing to you.

She's a very special city, a very special place.
This city we call Pittsburgh has a smile upon her face.
Her people are real friendly and they'll go an extra mile
To help keep Pittsburgh number one…

The city with a smile!!

Pittsburgh! Pittsburgh!
The city with a smile on her face
Pittsburgh! Pittsburgh!
Nowhere can you find a better place
To work and play and sing all day
Than Pittsburgh! Pittsburgh!
The city that never wears a frown
Pittsburgh! Pittsburgh! My home town.

Chorus:
We're gonna walk around the block today.
We're gonna walk, walk, walk in a curious way.
We're gonna walk, gonna walk around the block today.

Verse 1:
We're gonna look at the windows, look at the doors.
Notice all the gargoyles, and even the floors.

Chorus

Verse 2:
What is it made of? What is it for?
What is its age? Is it one to restore?

Chorus

Verse 3:
Who were the architects? What did they use?
Were they serious or did they just amuse?

Chorus

Verse 4:
We're gonna look at the colors. Look at the shapes.
Notice decorations, as well as landscapes.

Chorus

Verse 5:
Won't you come along with us, join with us too…
Architecture might just be the thing for you.

Chorus
